Oyez, oyez, oyez! The very first Bigster in Britain has arrived on UK shores. To welcome it in a quintessentially British way, a traditional town crier was on hand to deliver a resounding proclamation as the car was driven off the boat at Royal Portbury Dock in Bristol.
Alan Myatt rang his bell to herald the arrival, just as he would for big news such as the birth of a Royal baby or for the announcement of a new public holiday. Alan, who holds the Guinness World Record for the loudest town crier, certainly delivered a big shout for Dacia’s biggest car.
Far from a dying breed, there are more than 150 town criers registered with the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers, and they’ve been bringing gravitas to proceedings since the 18th century.
The first model to put its wheels on British soil was a Bigster Journey hybrid 155 in Indigo Blue.
Alan’s proclamation was delivered as follows: “Oyez, oyez, oyez! On this day, the 8th day of April, in the year of our Lord, 2025... we welcome with great pride the very first Dacia Bigster to the United Kingdom shores. You know, sometimes big is just what you need. God Save the King!”
It marks the start of Dacia officially shaking up the C-SUV segment in the UK, offering buyers of larger, family-friendly cars the robust, well-equipped, great value for money that they have been longing for.
More than 500 people have ordered Bigster in the one month since orders opened, even with no models in the UK to test. The first batch of cars will now be making their way to Dacia retailers, after final quality checks, for test drives and display, with the first customer deliveries expected in May.
Dacia’s newest model is available in a choice of three trim levels, mild and full hybrid petrol engines, plus the option of 4x4. Expression, Journey and Extreme trim levels all benefit from generous standard specifications including keyless entry, a 10.1-inch central touchscreen Multiview camera, front and rear parking sensors, dual zone automatic air conditioning, alloy wheels, automatic wipers and Hill Start Assist.
Journey and Extreme trim levels also gain a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, rear window privacy glass, wireless phone charging, plus the option of a two-tone black painted roof.
