Renault will bring an electrifying line-up to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, headlined by the UK dynamic debut of the spectacular Renault 5 Turbo 3E, while also showcasing two of its most exciting forthcoming models: the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric and the Renault 4 E-Tech electric ‘plein sud’ equipped with its electric-powered opening canvas roof.
Running up the famous hillclimb throughout the four-day event, in front of an estimated audience of 250,000 people, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E will demonstrate the extraordinary performance of Renault’s new electric ‘mini-supercar’ in front of Goodwood’s sell-out crowds.
Reimagining the spirit of the legendary Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 of the 1980s, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E combines dramatic retro-futuristic design with cutting-edge electric performance. Powered by two innovative rear-mounted in-wheel motors, it develops 555 hp and a massive 4,800 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful road-going Renault ever created.
With its carbon superstructure keeping weight to around 1,450 kg, the car is capable of sprinting from 0–62 mph in under 3.5 seconds, delivering true supercar-level acceleration in a compact form. Built around an advanced 800-volt architecture, Renault 5 Turbo 3E also offers ultra-fast 330 kW charging capability, allowing the battery to recharge from 15–80% in just 15 minutes, while its 70 kWh battery provides a driving range of over 400 km (pending homologation).
This year marks the next chapter in the Renault 5 Turbo 3E’s story, with the production-ready version making its first dynamic appearance in the UK, after earlier concept versions captivated crowds during previous appearances at the Festival of Speed, showcasing the car’s spectacular drift-focused character and rally-inspired styling.
Custom-made to order and priced from £140,000, production will be limited to 1,980 individually numbered examples, a tribute to the year the original Renault 5 Turbo was launched.
Reservations are open now, with customers able to create highly personalised cars, choosing from a wide range of exterior liveries, interior materials and finishes to create a truly unique vehicle.
Fabrice Cambolive, CEO Renault brand, said: “Renault 5 Turbo 3E embodies the boldness and spirit of innovation that have always defined Renault. By reinventing the legendary Renault 5 Turbo for the electric era, we have created something truly unique: a mini-supercar that combines spectacular performance with cutting-edge electric technology. Bringing the production-ready Renault 5 Turbo 3E to the Goodwood Festival of Speed for its UK dynamic debut is the perfect way to celebrate this spirit of performance and excitement with enthusiasts.”
Renault’s electric icons at Goodwood
Also making its UK dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric, offering visitors an early glimpse of Renault’s new generation of accessible electric mobility.
With its bright green paintwork and expressive, wide-set headlights, Renault Twingo E-Tech electric has already earned the affectionate nickname “le frog” – another example of Renault’s commitment to creating electric cars that are fun and full of personality.
Designed to be a true game-changer in the A-segment, Renault Twingo E-Tech electric combines a cheerful design and compact city-friendly footprint with modern electric technology. Targeting a starting price below £20,000, it aims to make electric mobility more accessible than ever, while offering a WLTP range of up to 163 miles from its LFP battery and a lively 60 kW electric motor. It also introduces features typically seen in larger segments, including One Pedal driving and the availability of OpenR Link with Google built-in multimedia system, helping make everyday urban driving even easier and more enjoyable.
Alongside it, visitors will see the Renault 4 E-Tech electric ‘plein sud’ equipped with an electric-powered opening canvas roof. Opening at the touch of a button or via voice control, the roof reveals an expansive 80 × 92 cm view of the sky, bringing the spirit of open-air motoring into the cabin while maintaining excellent acoustic insulation and sealing when closed.
The Renault stand will also showcase the Renault 5 E-Tech electric, the multi-award-winning model that reimagines one of Renault’s most iconic nameplates for the electric era. With its distinctive design and an engaging chassis tuned for agility and driving enjoyment, it offers up to 252 miles (WLTP) of range along with rapid charging capability designed for modern lifestyles.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place from Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th July, set against the spectacular backdrop of Goodwood House in West Sussex.
