The Renault 5 E-Tech electric has been named ‘EV of the Year’ at the Motor Trader Industry Awards 2025, the pure-electric supermini taking the top honour after impressing with its design, technology and appeal to UK drivers.
Against the backdrop of increasingly tough competition, the success of the Renault 5 E-Tech electric follows the Renault Scenic E-Tech electric winning the prestigious ‘New Car of the Year’ title last year.
Highlighting the factors that made the Renault 5 E-Tech electric the stand-out choice for the judges, John Kirwan, Editor, Motor Trader said: “The Renault 5 E-Tech has a brilliantly judged and executed exterior design with a fine and functional interior full of French flair. The Renault 5 E-Tech electric references the style of the original model while embracing modernity. Available with two battery options and providing a range of up to 252 miles (WLTP), it is both fun to drive and fun to be around, with heart-winning design and a vibrant colour palette.
As with every electric Renault, it qualifies for the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant, reducing the on-the-road price by £1,500. Prices now start from just £21,495 OTR, making it one of the most appealing electric options in its segment.
