The Omoda E5 has secured a five-star safety rating in Euro NCAP’s latest evaluations, following in the footsteps of its petrol-engine counterpart, the Omoda 5, which received the same rating in 2022.
The Omoda E5 achieved strong scores across key safety metrics: 87% in adult and child occupant protection, 88% in safety assist systems, and 68% for vulnerable road user protection. Testing included additional evaluations on the E5's high-voltage battery integrity and structural performance during frontal offset and oblique pole crashes.
Built with a 78% high-strength steel body, the Omoda E5 excels in crash resistance, with enhanced rigidity in critical areas like the front structure, B-pillars, and door sills.
In frontal crash tests, the cabin structure proved stable, with no significant deformation of the A-pillars or doors, and the seats and head restraints demonstrated strong whiplash protection. The model also includes an advanced eCall system that alerts emergency services in the event of a collision.
For child safety, the E5 includes stable, ergonomically designed child seat interfaces, with all critical body areas showing good or adequate protection in both frontal and side tests.
The E5’s active safety technologies were similarly effective, with its Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Vulnerable Road User (VRU) protection systems performing reliably across a range of conditions. The AEB responded swiftly, accurately identifying potential hazards and helping to mitigate collision risks.
