Jay Carter
Vehicle Technician – Based in York (and York born and bred, too)
Hometown: York

When he’s not under the bonnet making engines behave, you’ll likely find Jay lacing up his boots, pulling on his gloves, and voluntarily stepping into a boxing ring. Yep—this guy’s idea of a good time includes getting punched in the face (don’t worry, he gives as good as he gets).

As a Vehicle Technician at Batchelors York, Jay brings both grit and grease to the garage. With a Hyundai i30 N-Line as his current pride and joy and a Lexus LFA topping his dream-car wishlist (that V10 engine gives him goosebumps), he’s all about performance—whether it’s on four wheels or two feet.

His ultimate guilty pleasure? A greasy, cheesy pizza. The kind that makes your heart skip a beat—and not just from the calories.

When Jay was a kid, like most football-mad lads, he had dreams of going pro. But after a ruptured ACL and torn meniscus benched that ambition, he’s found his way back onto the pitch at Sunday league level—and onto the workshop floor, living his second passion: fixing cars and fine-tuning engines.

Dream holiday? India, to see the majestic Taj Mahal in real life. But until then, he’s travelling the scenic routes of Yorkshire (preferably in something loud and fast).

With quick hands, sharp skills, and a toolbox that’s seen it all, Jay’s the man who’ll get your car back in shape—and maybe even teach it to fight back.
