Iwan Easton

Master Technician / MOT Tester – Ripon
Hometown: Northallerton

If Batchelors had a long-running sitcom, Iwan would be the character who appeared in episode one as the apprentice and somehow became the unshakeable fan favourite by season ten. He started with us as a teenager, armed with enthusiasm, a spanner, and a questionable haircut — and now he’s a Master Technician and MOT Tester, which basically means he’s reached “wizard level” in car fixing.

When he’s not diagnosing a fault faster than you can say “there’s a light on my dash,” you’ll probably find him tucking into a chicken parmo and a pint, the official meal of Northerners who know how to live.

His dream car? Not a supercar, not a hypercar — nope. Iwan wants any estate with a V8. Because why be sensible or fast when you can be both? Picture a family wagon with the soul of a drag racer. That’s Iwan in car form.

In his spare time, he’s busy converting a campervan, which is equal parts wholesome and worrying. At this rate, he’ll disappear for a weekend of “exploring” and come back having accidentally driven to Portugal.

His dream holiday is cruising down Route 66, which makes sense for a man who spends half his life road-testing cars and the other half daydreaming about bigger engines.

As for what he wanted to be when he grew up?
His official answer: “Still don’t know.”
Which is bold coming from someone who has reached the automotive version of black-belt level.

Music-wise, Iwan isn’t fussy — indie, dance, whatever’s new, whatever’s loud, whatever keeps him awake during an MOT rush.

So whether he’s saving the day in the workshop, disappearing into his campervan project, or contemplating life over a parmo, Iwan is Ripon’s quietly hilarious, weirdly wise, eternally dependable engineering hero — proof that apprenticeships can, in fact, create legends.
