    JOB DESCRIPTION

    About the role 

    Batchelors Motor Group is a respected family business and motor dealer with outlets in Ripon and York, in business for more than 30 years. We represent two fantastic franchises, Suzuki and Mitsubishi and intend to grow the number of our outlets in the coming years. 

    We are looking for a HR Advisor / Manager to lead all of our HR practices and objectives. Dealing with all staffing aspects of our business from the initial recruitment to embedding a high-performance culture and performance whilst emphasising our TLC not PLC approach. Making sure all of our staff have the correct level of empowerment to ensure the best outcome for our customers across all areas of the business.

    • Manage complex employee relations casework including dispute resolutions, disciplinary, grievances, absence, retirement and redundancy.
    • Apply HR and business knowledge evidencing appropriate decision-making skills
    • Advise and train managers on the terms and conditions of employment and knowledge share best practice with them
    • Check and develop HR policy and procedures to drive performance and mitigate disputes.
    • Implement and monitor learning and development policy
    • Provide first line advice on current and existing benefits for employees and managers
    • Administer payroll and payroll records and keep accounts appraised of any changes.
    • Continuously monitor and review HR policies and processes and implement changes where necessary.

    Additionally, you will be working closely with the Managing Director fulfilling some PA duties.

    Ideally you will have some knowledge of one or more of the following disciplines.

    • Health & Safety
    • Building Regulations
    • Fire Regulations
    • General licence laws
    • Accounting

    Additional Responsibilities (not exhaustive)

    • Maintain all hard copy and digital records for ongoing projects
    • Filing of company documents
    • Assist in creating and distributing meeting minutes for the monthly manager’s meetings and other franchise meetings
    • Deal with correspondence
    • Work with the team to create spreadsheets and presentation for staff and clients
    • Prepare the conference room for presentations and staff meetings
    • Utility companies 


    About You

    • Minimum of a CIPD Level 5 qualification - Essential
    • Proven HR generalist experience of three to five years is expected – Essential
    • Exceptional organisational and communication skills is required together with proven leadership capabilities
    • Should be a proactive team player with strong customer service and problem-solving skills
    • Experienced in developing and supporting line managers through change
    • An ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy is crucial
    • Self - motivated and able to work under own autonomy or as part of a team
    • GCSEs/A-levels or equivalent required
    • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
    • Strong sense of responsibility and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office
    • Impeccable written and oral communication skills
